I believe in offering a patient centred service. No two patients are the same . I pride myself in being able to tailor an individual treatment plan for each patient . I take a lot of time in explaining the condition, the risks of surgery and most importantly the limitations of surgery so that patients have very realistic expectations at the end of the consultation. If surgery is not the right option I give patients alternative treatment and management strategies.

As an NHS Consultant I have held a number of high-profile management roles. I was the Service Director for General Surgery, Breast and Urology at Sherwood Forest NHS Trust. I was then invited to take up the Post of Clinical Chair for the whole surgical division. This was the largest division at Sherwood Forest NHS Trust and I was Clinical Chair for all the clinical surgical specialities, Critical Care, Anaesthesia, Theatres, CSSD, Pain Team and Podiatry. This was a huge portfolio which I did for almost 4 years, during the covid pandemic, while continuing to work as a full-time Cancer Clinician. I can proudly say that I have been involved in the management journey of Sherwood Forest NHS Trust from needing improvement to winning the HSJ Award for The Best Acute NHS Trust in England in 2021. I am currently the Trust Cancer Lead for all cancers at Sherwood Forest NHS Trust in addition to being the Colorectal Cancer lead.

Patient Information

When you come in for your appointment to see me please bring the results of any tests you have had in the past along with details of your medication history and clinic letters, if available.

I would encourage you to bring a family member with you.

I am registered with most Health Insurance Companies and charge within their fee guidelines for initial consultations, review consultations and procedures. If you have an excess on your policy, an invoice will be sent to you, to collect any outstanding shortfall amounts due because of your excess.

I am also happy to see self-funding patients. It would be preferable to have a referral letter from your GP, which will contain details of the reason for the referral, past medical history, relevant investigations so that we are not spending resources on repeating the same investigations. This will also keep your GP aware of any planned treatments so that they can up-date their records.

My clinic dates are usually on a Tuesday and Friday. If you want to see me outside of the set clinic times or on a different date, I am happy to try and oblige.

If you need any treatment or procedures the hospital will be able to give you the treatment costs through a procedure code. Patients are required to settle their account before any procedure is undertaken if they are self-funding.

Please do not hesitate to contact my Private Secretary if you have any queries on 0115 9662063 .
